Fall is definitely here and I love it. We enjoyed Mother Nature’s display of autumn colors as we drove through New England and then to Canada for two back to back shows in October. The return trip home reviled lovely fall foliage in several other states as well. What a treat. We look forward to returning to both shows next year to renew friendships, share our new products and to experience the beautiful autumn colors.
It is always hectic when we return from a show. It has been more hectic returning this time since we were gone for four weeks. That was a long time for our two year old Bichon, Beau, to be left. I am not sure which of us was happier to be home, Beau or Bill and I.
“COUNT DOWN to the HOLIDAYS”
The first week in November the “Count Down to the Holidays SALE” began. To continue our weekly bargains we will put a very special piece of tin on sale. It will be our new cradle painted by Rosemary West, CDA.
It is on sale $52.00. That's right $52.00!.
Painted red with angels, flowers, hearts and a bunny or two, I know you will love it. The original tin is circa 1850 found in a barn in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
It will be featured in an issue of PaintWorks early in 2010. Paint it for a daughter, granddaughter or niece and it will become a treasured heirloom. She can place her doll in it now, use it to hold her magazines in her fist home and display it under her Christmas tree as an adult.
Order it now and have it on your painting table ready to paint when the magazine is delivered to your mailbox.
WHAT ELSE IS ON SALE?
The Folk Art Train, Vintage Truck, Parsons Horseless Carriage, Aunt Daisy's Coupe, Junior's Roadster and the Family Chariot.
The sale price on the train does not include the Caboose. Limited to in stock only, no rain checks. You are the first to know so you have a head start on the other shoppers. We want to make this a Christmas you can afford and one that your family will have very special pieces painted with love by you.

MAGAZINE ARTICLES
The latest issue of Quick & Easy Magazine has arrived and two projects are featured on our tin. Shara Reiner, CDA has used our tall Cathedral Window Ornament to create the body of another special angel. Pretty clever!
Debby Forshey–Choma has a new design in this issue painted on our tin. You will find photos of these on our home page. Click here for home page.
NEW MAGAZINE
CHRISTMAS 365 released its Premier Issue. It is a new magazine that is published by the same company that publishes PaintWorks and Quick & Easy. It will have four issues a year with a mix of crafts and painting. You should check it out. Christmas 365
NEW PATTERNS
We added six new patterns to the web and there are fourteen new ornament designs in the packets. DONNA SCULLY has five new ornament patterns that are sure to become favorites. This is the first time we have offered her designs on our web site and we look forward to adding more. You will find snowmen, Santa’s, patriotic themes, reindeer and New England scenes.
Would you like an adorable ornament that you could paint a dozen of at one time and not take you two weeks? Then EILEEN DELLASELVA’S new ornament pattern is definitely one you should consider. It is a cute, cute snowman with two real buttons glued to his chest painted on our Puffed Christmas Tree Ornament. If you are looking for one that can be painted in assembly line fashion, this one will be a winner.
There is still time to paint ornaments for your tree and for gifts. Don’t overlook the fact that our ornaments can be used in so many ways. Think door knob decorations, hang them on dining chairs, use them for package ties, place cards, favors for parties or for guests to take home after a holiday gathering, decorate wreaths… the possibilities are limitless.
WAITING IN THE WINGS (and on the drawing board)
There is always something on my drawing board! This season brings the largest number of new product samples that are either in or will arrive soon in the next container. I have a group of new samples in the studio waiting for me to critique and tweak before production begins. Samples for a new line of Shara Reiner Ornaments are in. They will be available in late February.
We also have samples for two arks, yes, arks! Lynne Andrews will be painting one for PaintWorks and another one for a pattern packet. The arks are wonderful! There will be animal pieces to go with the arks. We received the ark samples at the NET Show and we were both so excited we could not stop talking about them.
The photo of the ark that will be in PaintWorks was made with no frills so Lynne could take the ark with her. The tree has to be tweaked. A dove will pearch on the top of the tree. More space between the limbs is needed to accomadate ornaments. Pairs of animals are designed, but not yet made. A dove will be added to the top of the tree. The door opens on the side of the ark. This will be storage for animals and Noah and his wife. The photo was taken in the storage area of the NET Show so Lynne could take the ark with her.
We have unbelievable plans for next year. Samples for a half dozen new antique pieces, two lamps, and several other pieces will arrive in the first quarter of the New Year.
LAS VEGAS CREATIVE PAINTING CONFERENCE
February 21 - 26, 2010
Before we know it the New Year will have arrived and Bill and I will be planning our trip to the first show of the year. That will be the Creative Painting Conference in Las Vegas. It is Bill’s favorite show. He loves to go to Vegas. It is a great show. The value of actually seeing the products displayed is so much better than going to the web and looking at them one at a time.
Taking classes and learning from artists you read about is the real value of going to the show.
A new design on our Folk Art Train will be the class that I am teaching. When you arrive in class your piece is basecoated and ready for you to paint. It is a bargain price and will be a fun, fun class. Go to their web site and check out the information. I hope we will see your there!
TRAVEL TEACHING
After almost a four years absence I will resume travel teaching in 2010. I have three seminars booked for the spring, two for the fall and several contracts out. Those of you that are looking forward to a seminar I will be getting in touch soon with photos of seminar projects.
By booking a seminar on the way to or from a trade shows your group can save on travel fees.
PAINTING TIP
While checking several paint stores trying to match the paint on an existing wall color I found a booklet that I think will be a helpful tool for beginner painters. The booklet is published by Benjamin Moore, “Color Language”, a color guide for home decorating. It has a page with a nice Color Wheel and explains “The Language of Color”. It is a good tool for your students.
CLOSING ON A PERSONAL NOTE...
Your concern for me after the loss of my Mother is so heartwarming. She was 87, had a wonderful life and left a legacy of love for her children and her grandchildren that would be difficult to equal.
As your family and friends come to give thanks and celebrate Thanksgiving my wish for you is the time spent with those you cherish most is a special one. With a grateful heart I close sending a warm hug to each of you. Della
Note: Share this newsletter with your painting friends they too might like to receive our Folk Art Journal.
