The temp is 109 so we must be back in Texas, right? Can't believe it is 81 days and counting of 105 + temp. HOOT was exciting and busy. So much excitement at the show… so good to see. They were excited about our new samples, tin and patterns. We have a team of great designers and that is the secret to pleasing our customers.
PRODUCTS
We will be shipping Goddard's Wax in late September. When the thermometer drops below "fry an egg on the sidewalk" we will let you know. We were overwhelmed with the response after we posted that we now carried the wax. Most came from "long time" painters. All saying the same thing… we have been looking for this forever! I will give you a heads up when we start shipping it again.
WHAT'S NEW?
PaintWorks Christmas Ornament issue and the October Fall issue is a must for all painters. The designs are awesome and inspiring. Check our home page for nine terrific ornament projects painted on Folk Art Tin. If your subscription has lapsed or you have never subscribed you are really missing out. So order the two issues from PaintWorks when you subscribe. PaintWorks Magazine Website
Many new additions are on our home page with more to come. It will be an exciting fall… so check the site often. My travel schedule is really full so the Journal may not come as regularly as it usually does for the next couple of months.
TWO PAINTING CONFERENCES (in three weeks)
Let me start by saying there is only one word about the show we attended this month… HOOT. It is WOW! You weren't there? You missed a great time.
Sept. 21 - 25 – Portland, Oregon Raindrop Painting Conference
YES!!! Our first time to attend!!! I am so excited!!! I will fly from TX to Portland, OR and have a booth there for the first time. I wish Bill was going too, but we did not feel we could drive from the West Coast to the East Coast to do a seminar for the Pennsylvania Mountain Laurel Chapter the weekend before the NET Show. So when we packed up after the HOOT Show we pulled the samples and product I will have in Portland and sent it on its way.
Oct. 5 - 9 Marlborough, MA - New England Traditions Painting Conference
The NET show starts ten days after Portland. So the Monday after the Raindrop Show ends Bill will pick me up at DFW in Dallas and we will head east. You will notice we will be in a new location this year. Great facility in a small township, easy to get to, no city traffic to fight and wonderful parking. We checked it out last year before we headed home from Providence, RI. I talked to the show chairwoman today and she said registration is up 50%! GREAT NEWS! There is still time for you to come and register for classes or just come to see the show.
STOCK - IN or OUT?
Shara's Santa Ornaments with pointed hat are in! Sadly, her Santa Pull Toy is not yet in.
NEW PATTERNS
Three new patterns were added by Lynne Andrews for three new sets of pins…adorable! Each pattern has four designs.
Need a great gift for a man in your life? Donna Scully has the pattern you have been wanting for that special guy. She painted the set of three small oval trinket boxes with a fishing theme. I purchased the orginal oval box in a Country Living booth at Round Top, TX. I had a piece of wood with a string, hook and small cork stored inside. Donna did not know this when she painted on the three little tins. She also added an adorable Easter design to one of our "wall size" hearts.
Jane Allen has a new design perfect for the Folk Art Painter designed for our Santa Pull Toy. His pack is filled with brushes and there is a companion tree that is a separate pattern that can be displayed beside it. Also new from Jane is a cute, cute pumpkin ornament kit.
A pattern for painting two Christmas ornaments designed by Rosemary West was added today. They exude the charm that all of her designs have. Many will be painting these special ornaments for Christmas.
My "Blackbird and Cherries" pattern is now for sale on the web. Easy and fun to paint and looks terrific when completed.
As always, our new products will be featured on Home Pages 1 and 2.
Several designs seen previously published in PaintWorks are now patterns, so check those out too.
HEADS UP… MORE NEW TIN ARRIVING SOON
In a few weeks eight new pieces of tin will be arriving. Most are reproductions of antiques found in my travels and all are primed with the wonderful gun metal finish used to finish all of our reproductions.
Time is in short supply for me right now and will be for the next two months. So expect a "lag time" in receiving the next Folk Art Journal. We will, however, send photos and updates for the remaining shows this year. Our Tuesday Market will be discontinued for a while. No time for me to pull them together, and too, we have so many new products the space is needed.
I look forward to seeing my "Folk Art Friends" in the next month and a half as I travel to shows and seminars from the east coast to the west. It is the best reason I can give my non painting friends for working as much as I do… I love all of you!
Leaving you with a great "life's lesson" thought that I am applying in my life now.
"LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS...
IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!"
It is a great one, so give it some thought as you "think with your heart".
Sending a Texas size hug to each of you, Della
