CHECK OUT A NEW SALE ON THE HOME PAGE

The snow and ice enhances the Christmas atmosphere as the sun is gone and the sky is turning from gray to twilight. Most homes on our street have a lovely glow from twinkling lights, colonial candle lights glowing in the windows and wreaths hung on windows and doors. The Wetterman home is not displaying any Christmas spirit like the rest of the neighborhood just yet. I will do a little decorating with a few of my favorite things tomorrow. Painting is top priority in my daily schedule now with deadlines looming. We will not be home for Christmas so decorating is not at the top of my "to do list" right now.

CREATIVITY IN THE STUDIO

It is a busy and an exciting time in the small room I fondly, no laughingly, call "my studio". I am working on a book to be released in March. It has been a number of years since I have published a book. This will be book #7. The samples will be on display at the 2014 Vegas Creative Painting Conference. There will be two new DVD's available at the Vegas Show "How to Prep Tin" and "Final Touches". The first DVD is information on how to prepare all types of tin… old, new, galvanized, raw and baked on finishes. The second one will show you how to achieve a mellow and aged look by "mudding", varnishing and waxing your completed project.

OK, HEADS UP… THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM

Folk Art TinFolk Art TinThe new issue of PaintWorks arrived with an ad advertising a " FOLK ART TIN SALE". The sale from the ad is posted on our home page. You will find I added fourteen other pieces of tin "on sale" that are not in the ad. Some of the items listed are in limited quantity so "the early bird will definitely get the worm".

Vicki Rhodes painted a lovely design on our Gooseneck Coffee Pot featured in this issue of PaintWorks. Vicki shares how she uses color and added an unexpected twist to her design. She used chalk board paint to create a "leave a note" area on the side of the coffee pot. It allows you to leave a note for a family member… pretty clever.

END OF THE YEAR IS ALMOST HERE

A new year is fast approaching. And as usual, I have a long list of new ideas to be implemented in 2014. The list is growing longer and longer. Hopefully I am not adding more than I can accomplish before my first seminar in late February. The Vegas Show is the following weekend.

COMING SOON

"Texas Hill Country Folk Art Seminar"
The first "Texas Hill Country Folk Art Seminar" will be a special event for those of you that are planning to attend. Your enthusiasm is exciting. We will have the best Texas Folk Artist, Rosemary West, teaching in a little Texas town that is known nationally for its charm. She is teaching two beautiful projects on antique reproductions. Click here for all of the details.

Della Wetterman"Sample Sale"

I am sorting samples and will place many of them on sale soon. There will be a lot of great samples to choose from. There will be another newsletter soon with more information and photos of the samples that will be sold.

"Out of Print Books Sale" Due to limited space and an unexpected new shipment of books I will be selling many of the books at my cost. This could be the last "out of print book sale" I will have when the books are sold out. So expect lower pricing than ever before. I will let you know the date of the sale soon.

"Miscellaneous Sale" I have antique tin pieces that were used by our manufacturer to reproduce our "Folk Art Tin" business pieces. The original doll cradle, lunch pails and several other antique pieces of tin and some wonderful "one of a kind tin pieces" that will give you the opportunity to paint on a beautiful antique… not a replica of one will be on sale.

Also included in the "Miscellaneous Sale" will be some of the pieces in my collection of antique tin pieces painted by Nancy Bateman. Her painted pieces are painted on antique or unique pieces of tin. I love her signature designs. I will also have tin pieces painted by several other artists that will be included in this sale. Updates will be coming soon for the "Miscellaneous Sale". My home is bursting at the seams and I can pack these away in boxes and take them to the warehouse, but that would be a crime to do that. Better to let others have the chance to enjoy them.

New Year's Resolutions

My list is started… is yours? At the top of the list is to clear our home of the clutter and the sale of samples and painted pieces will be the start of "clearing the clutter".

More importantly I am making personal resolutions. Also at the top of the list is to give my body the much needed rest it needs. With that comes to reorganize the way we will be working our business. Bill is at the top of my list as well. He has back issues that require us to change the way we do the business so it is less physical for him.

It was nice to visit with my Folk Art Friends on this cold winter's day. Hopefully your Christmas plans are in place and the shopping has not overwhelmed your life. We will be in Dripping Springs, Texas a beautiful part of the Texas Hill Country with our oldest son, Bill, Jr. and Lex and their boys, Trey and Christopher. Gregg and Jennie and their girls, Arden and Lissa, will join us there. It will be a special time for our family. For the second year our family will spend Christmas in the Texas Hill Country. We had a wonderful time last year and look forward to another Christmas with our two sons and their families.

From our home to yours I wish you a blessed holiday season, Della
