A few years ago painters started trading
Artists Trading Cards at the annual meeting of The Society
of Decorative Painters. They can be any size you choose,
but most seem to be business card size. This is the first
year that we participated.
With the help of a good painting friend, Susan Mynyk, we created
designs for Rosemary West, Maxine Thomas and myself. Rosemary
and I taught an all day Special Event Class and those projects
were used on our 2007 card. Maxine's Trading Card was her wonderful
Ornament Box with ornaments that she had displayed in our booth.
The project is painted on Folk Art Tin's large square document
box and puffed ornaments.
Each class member attending the Special Event Class received
a souvenir pin with the projects we taught to wear at the Anaheim
Convention. They were very similar to the Trading Card.
The cards are business card size and Susan laminated them
so they will be protected. I have my cards displayed on tiny
easels so I can enjoy them ever day. When you think of them
as small works of art you will come up with many ways to
display them in your studio or painting space. Then they
won’t end up in the drawer that stores all those small
things that do not have a home.
We would like to share any left over cards with our friends.
If you would like to receive a card send a self addressed,
